PT Zine // #GETINVOLVED either #JOIN IN

#GetInvolved That is the two-year program of the PleinTheater, where we involve the neighborhood in the theater. Every last Friday afternoon of the month there is a walk-in neighbourhood committee in the foyer, which means that you can come with your own idea to implement in the PleinTheater.

For example, there has already been a stand-up comedy evening by youngsters from the neighborhood, who organized it themselves. And subsequently there are now two initiatives by volunteers from the PleinTheater.

The first was initiated by Paul, who has been a new volunteer at the PleinTheater for 3 months. He worked at Theater de Meervaart in Osdorp for 31 years, first as a bar employee, then in ticket sales and for the last 6 years of his career he worked as a duty manager, and was responsible for the entire ins and outs surrounding a performance or event. He is now retired and because he can't completely let go to the theater atmosphere, he volunteers at Rialto (behind the cash register) and at the PleinTheater as an public guidence. He lives a 5-minute walk from the PleinTheater.

As a new resident of Oost, where he has been living for 2 years, he really enjoys thinking along about a fun activity for the Oosterparkbuurt. In Spain he once took part in a bingo evening in a café and it was so much fun that he wanted to organize it again. Of course, for a theater it has to be a bit more theatrical, so that's why Drag Queen bingo came up. And so Paul, invited Miss Patty Pam Pam to discuss that. That was a nice meeting.

Patty Pam Pam makes all her outfits herself, she has 100 dresses in her studio and, as a Drag Queen, she provides a fully catered bingo evening including funny prizes, the ball wheel, the cards, and also a suitcase game à la Linda de Mol. Paul will host the presentation on Sunday, April 14, because theater still flows through his veins.
